Bush and Kerry Both Distort the Truth

Just today, someone told me that to get to the position where you are running for President from one of the major parties means that you have learned how to be dishonest, but sound truthful. Both George Bush and John Kerry have shown us how very good they are at that in this last debate.

I think one zinger that really sticks out for me, was when Kerry said, "The President got $84 from a timber company that he owns, and he's counted as a small Business." Kerry was talking about how the White House will count anybody that makes a dollar, a small business.

Well George Bush got a big laugh when he made a face and said. "I own a timber company? That's news to me."

Well the fact is that George Bush does own 50% of LSET,LLC, a limited liability company organized "for the purpose of the production of trees for commercial sales." Remember when Dick Cheney told people to go to Factcheck.org in the VP Debate? Well I did and it seems that neither Bush nor Kerry had a lot of their facts right.

Kerry said that President Bush has under funded the No Child Left Behind Act, by $28 Billion. The fact is, that is an opinion and not a fact. Under President Bush, funding for the Department of Education grew 58%. Factcheck writes, "What Kerry was referring to is an often-repeated Democratic charge that Bush broke a "promise" to fund the law at the maximum Congress allowed, or authorized. And actually, Bush made no such promise." Bush promised to "provide the resources necessary." That number is debatable.

When talking about taxes, President Bush claimed that. "We increased that child credit by $1,000," when in fact it has increased by half that much under his legislation. It was $500 before he took office and he added another $500 to it.

John Kerry said that after General Shinseki told Bush he would need several hundred thousand troops to win in Iraq, "They retired General Shinseki for telling him that." The truth is the administration didn't force General Shinseki to retire. "The fact, The Washington Times reported Shenseki plans to retire nearly a year before his Feb.25, 2003 testimony." The Times article was published April 19, 2002.

If you go to http://factcheck.org you can read the whole article titled, "Distortions Galore at Second Presidential Debate."

What you will find, is that neither the President nor Senator Kerry were very honest in the charges they made that night. These two men are supposed to be our best. Both will tell you they are Christians and both will pretend to be honorable men. Read the article and judge for yourself. If these two guys honestly got as many things wrong as they did, then neither of them have any business running for President. I think as many times as they each distorted the facts, you would have to believe that these two guys are out and out liars.

Let us face the fact, when you have been in politics as long as these two have, your morals and integrity are pretty shot. Both Bush and Kerry have had to promise so many things to so many groups over the years and break those promises, because they pandered to both sides on many issues, that a few more lies at this stage mean nothing to them.

George Bush has tasted what it is like to be the most powerful man in the world and he will say anything to stay in that position another four years. John Kerry is so close, he can almost taste it too, so he will do the same.

Don't trust what either of these two men says in the next three weeks.
