We Are Becoming Two Americas

I understand what President Bush is trying to do. I might not like it, but I do understand it. Those with a lot of money put George Bush in the White House and George is giving them "payback" right now.

In his first term, President Bush got a lot of tax cuts for the rich in America and he told those people if they backed him one more time, he would get those cuts made permanent and that is what he is trying to do right now.

It doesn't really matter to George Bush that he is borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars to run America because of those tax cuts... he is helping out his friends.

This is the way I think it works. I am not real positive on this because I am not one of George's rich friends. When you have a lot of money and you have to pay a big chunk of it to Uncle Sam you get mad and feel you are getting picked on. You think of all the jobs you create because of your spending, and feel that is helping the country enough. Paying taxes on top of all the economic stimulation your buying spree brings the country is asking too much from you.

It always sort of bothers me that these rich people can't understand what a blessing it is just to be an American and that most likely if they were not born here or somehow got to live here, chances are they would be a third world poor person. I think that because of the numbers. There are way more poor people in this world than rich and America is one of the few countries that let you work hard and get to the top. Many of those that have done that forget where they came from and now think the nation owes them a special place with no taxes or greatly reduced ones.

Will Durst, has been trying to explain what George Bush's tax cuts mean and how the cuts Bush wants in his new budget will hurt so many, yes, American Taxpayers.

Rich people don't think that those of us who get paid by the hour pay any taxes, but we do. Everyone pays taxes. I don't care if you are Joe Shit the rag man and you only make five grand a year. You pay sales tax, gas tax, real-estate tax (even if you rent some of your rent goes to taxes) you pay a tax to buy your tabs for your car and or boat and even if you have a ice fishing house on the lake in the winter they hit you up for a fee. Americans pay and poor Americans pay a higher percentage of their income than the rich do.

Now I am not a Socialist, heck, I'm not even a Democrat, but I feel if you make $500,000 a year and Uncle Sam wants $200,000 of that, well that still leaves you with $300,000 to get by on and that isn't too bad. If a guy bitched because he is only left with $300,000 to scrape by on, well that is too bad in my book.

You know George Bush and his people are always talking about being Christians and how the founding fathers were Christians too, but I guess they never read about Loving Your Neighbor or "Blessed are the merciful." I forgot, George Bush never read that section because right after that it says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God," and for sure no one who really reads the Bible is going to call George Bush a son of God.

I hear people all the time say that welfare people are getting all the money and they are sick of paying. Well welfare people are getting all the money, but those welfare people that are getting all the money are the rich people who own stock in the companies and corporations that get "corporate welfare." Corporate Welfare takes way more money than Poor People Welfare.

But back to Will Durst and what he tells us about what Bush's budget is going to do to America and why we have to cut those rich people some slack.

In Bush's Budget, tighter restrictions on Food Stamps will not only hurt those that might be cheating by getting them, but it will also hurt all of those really sick and needy people that depend on them for enough to eat, but we will save some money here to give the rich people a break on taxes.

George wants to cut down on Federal Drug Administration inspections so that he can give that money to the rich and then there are the cuts in Highway and infrastructure improvements that won't go away, but the rich will get their cut now and our grandchildren can worry about this when they are paying for all the money George has borrowed so he can kill innocent people on Afghanistan and Iraq.

Yes, both of those wars have been paid for with Credit Cards and our kids will get the bill. It is also true that we have had to kill scores of thousands of innocent people so that we can bring their loved ones freedom and democracy. I guess sometimes real Christians have to kill little kids and infants to do good things.

We all worry about terrorism here at home, but Bush wants to cut the Homeland Security funds for state and local efforts by 11% so that we can make those tax cuts permanent.

Here is one we can all get behind, $250 million cut to train child care doctors. That much money is spent by Bush in Iraq every day before morning coffee break, but it all adds up and the rich need that money.

George is cutting the Small business Administration by more than $3.3 billion. I guess rich people don't want more rich people coming along to cut into their pie.

Now here is a new tax that George thinks will fund some of his tax cut for the rich. Veterans will have to start paying more money to receive the VA health care they were promised. Every Vietnam Era recruiter had a sales pitch about free lifetime health care if you would go out and kill gooks for your country.

George Bush wants to stop all abortions, but he also wants to cut funds for Foster Care Programs so that the rich can get some more money.

To tell you the truth, I don't really know what Community Block Grants are, but people tell me they are used to fight poverty. Well now much of that money in Bush's budget will be used to fight poverty in our rich community, because Bush is taking $637 million from cities and giving it to wealthy Americans.

Here is the one that I know is going to hurt a lot of real tax paying Americans. George Bush is "gutting the low income home energy assistance program" which at least up here in Minnesota is mostly used by the elderly. That is the program that helps poor old people pay for their winter heat.

There are millions of NOT RICH Americans, who have worked their whole lives and paid taxes that Bush is going to hurt with his budget. Maybe these people were not as smart as the rich, or maybe they just didn't get the same break, or their parents didn't have the money to help them when they wanted to start a business, so they didn't make it to the top. George Bush has to be looking down at those people because he is taking money that could help them have a little better life and he is giving it back to the rich, so they can have an even better life than they have now and their lives are so much better than most Americans.

I have to admit though, that George Bush is paying back a debt and those people he is getting the money for, put up the money to get him in office, so I know what he is doing, but it does make me pretty sick when he claims to be a Christian. We are all Americans in this country and right now we are in a war and we have a huge debt that we owe to the rest of the world, but George Bush goes right on spending and instead of curbing his spending, he is going to take money that we have traditionally spent on the sick and poor and he is going to give that money to the rich and just keep paying the interest charges on our debt until he gets out of office.

George Bush is not trying to hide what he is doing, in fact he is right up front about it. He even tells us he is not going to quit spending, all he has promised is that he will only borrow half of what he borrowed in his first term. George Bush told us he would cut the deficit in half in this second term. That means that the National Debt will keep getting higher, just not as high as it would have if he kept spending like he was spending up to last year.

You have to admit that President Bush is a real scumbag, but he is an honest scumbag. He will take from the poor and give to the rich and admit that he is doing just that. In fact the man will claim what he is doing is the right thing to do and that the rich deserve to be richer and the money has to come from some place, so the poor will have to pitch in.

Now I want you to know I am not making any of this up. Right now, every day we are spending hundreds of millions of dollars in Iraq and not only does Washington borrow every penny of that money, we don't even include it in our yearly budget. Your children and grandchildren will have to pay every penny back with interest.

If George Bush didn't have all these tax breaks for the rich we could at least have a Pay As You Go War, but George thinks it is more important to give rich Americans a break on their taxes and because of those tax breaks, he is screwing out future generations. He isn't hiding this fact. He is right out front about it and the American people nod their heads and say OK. So I guess we get what we ask for or at least what we voted for.
