I Hope Our President Just Isn’t Getting It

I would like to think that President Bush doesn't get it, because if he does, it means the man is lying to us and is very evil. Today at his press conference President Bush was asked about the people we are sending to countries that torture and he said that we make sure that those countries are not going to torture the people we send to them.

George wants us to believe that we can trust people who will clip electrical cables on the genitals of a human being and turn on the juice. He wants us to believe that we can take the word of people who will pull fingernails out of people.

Here is a quote from George Bush in his State of the Union Speech this year, "Torture is never acceptable, nor do we hand over people to countries that do torture."

The LA Times reports, "Since September 2001 the Central Intelligence Agency has dispatched between 100 and 150 terror suspects to countries where fine points of law and human rights don't stop beatings, drugging, or long isolation."

It has now been said about America, "A nation that considers itself a beacon of freedom seems unable to practice the respect for law and human rights it ardently preaches to others."

US law and international conventions bar sending prisoners to another nation if there are not strong assurances of humane treatment. The Times writes, "The CIA says with a straight face that it gets those assurances before delivering suspects to jailers in Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Pakistan---countries that have such abysmal human rights records that promises of decent treatment are a joke."

I know President Bush can act real dumb, I know he can act like a compassionate Christian, and I know the man is not dumb, and I know by his actions he is no Christian. So, when he looks out from the television and tells America that he is getting assurances from these nations that they won't torture those suspects we send their way, I have no doubt he is lying to us. Remember these people are suspects and have not been convicted.

I know from my time in the Marines that America tortures people. We have just learned that over two dozen people were killed in American custody in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes, some of them were beat to death.... by Americans.

George Bush knows what he is doing and he knows what our country is doing. He can claim to be a compassionate Christian and he can whip out Bible quotes with the best of them, but really the man is sick. Anyone and I don't care if their name is Saddam Hussein, Adolph Hitler, or George Bush, when they send fellow human beings off to be tortured, they have put themselves in a different class.

You know, I don't care what anyone says, if you read a Christian Bible and you read the words of Jesus Christ, and you then send people off to be tortured and you start wars that kill tens of thousands of innocent civilians, Women, Children, the old, and the infirmed, well in my book you are sick, and you are evil.

Post Script

I just read this over and here I am telling you that our American President is sick and evil and that is pretty heavy, but I watched George's news conference. When the President was asked about sending people off to countries that are known for torturing he didn't stand up and say NO WAY!, no way would I ever send someone to be tortured. He just had his little smile with his disjointed answer about getting assurances that those nations, known for human rights violations, would change their ways for the people we sent. His answer did not ring true. I really believe that torture has become a tool that the Bush administration is willing to use and they will make half hearted attempts to hide it, but really they are pretty open about the whole thing, and I find that pretty sick. The world knows what were are doing and it is hurting our country.
