On The Road Looking For Answers

I won't be having a new column everyday this month for several reasons. I am going on a driving trip. Yes, I know the price of gas, but with George in charge, I figure it is now or never. I think by fall we will be at three dollars a gallon.

This last year I have gotten a lot of e-mail from people who tell me that they are Americans, but their views about personal liberty are so strange to me. They want to feel safe and they don't care what that takes. So, I am going to head out and take a look at our country and ask questions of lots of people. People from all walks of life.

While I am gone it will be computer update time and there won't be a rush to get it done.

When Charmaine was alive, she and I would go down the Arizona in the winter. We wanted to sit by the pool, relax, and miss the winter. Every year that would last about two weeks and we would be going nuts with boredom and then we would both get jobs down there. I think if you really want to work and you can speak and read English, it is still pretty easy to get a job. It might not be what you want or pay what you want, still you can get work.

When Charmaine got sick last time we came home early. I put her on a plane, cleaned up the apartment, and put lots of stuff in storage that I have been paying on for years. I am finally going to pick that stuff up. I would have been better off just giving it all away as storage costs have been much higher the total value of what we had, but I know there are some things that I want. I guess you would call them memories.

One thing that is there in the storage unit, is a 1965 Vespa red motor scooter. I got it for Charmaine and she drove it to work. It got about 120 miles per gallon and hey, I might just need that.

Ever so often I will be giving a report on here of what I have seen and what people are telling me. It is hard to judge the mood of the country from just one spot and I think this will be a interesting trip for me, so, check in here every so often as see what I find. Sincerely James Glaser
