Liar Liar Pants on Fire

Yes, that little ditty is childish, but I bring it up because President Bush has turned to childish lies in trying to convince the American public that his War in Iraq is for the good of our country. The new National debate now going on about Iraq should be based on facts and figures, but from the beginning of this War, George Bush has used "spin" when explaining why this war was started and why it must continue.

This past weekend President Bush told the Nation, that the United States was forced into war with Iraq because of the September 11th terror attack on our country. George said, "We went to war because we were attacked, and are at war today because there are still people out there who want to harm our country and hurt our citizens." That is true, but we have to ask ourselves if those that want to hurt us are the Iraqi people that we are now killing, or the people who attacked us, like Osama bin Laden and those from Saudi Arabia, who financed the attack on our country.

It was a couple years ago that I learned for sure that Saddam Hussein and Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorist attack on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. George Bush is the man who told me that in a meeting televised from the White House.

Now President Bush is saying we had to fight in Iraq because of that attack. Last month it was because we wanted to bring the country democracy, and before that it was regime change, and before that it was Weapons of Mass Destruction. Next month George will have a new reason and now people from his own party are catching on to the fact that no one really knows why we are fighting in Iraq. However, we all know that the cost in blood, both American and Iraqi, is too high.

Remember George and Condi Rice talking about Mushroom Shaped clouds over American cities, before we attacked Iraq? Well this weekend George said, "Our troops are fighting these terrorists in Iraq so you will not have to face them here at home." Iraq never had the nuclear weapons that Bush and Rice alluded to in starting this war and it is hard to see battalions of terrorists making a beachhead on American soil with armed Americans holding them off, but that is what George says we are fighting them for. Some of those we are fighting in Iraq are foreign terrorists wanting to attack Americans, but more than 95% of those we fight are Iraqi citizens. Those foreign fighters in Iraq would never in their lifetimes have had the chance to attack Americans, if George hadn't given them this chance by sending our troops to their part of the world.

I seem to remember George Bush making a speech to the world, where he taunted the terrorists with, "bring em on," like some tough guy. Well those terrorists did bring it on and while George sits in the White House making up tall tales and lies to tell the American people, thousands of young American Soldiers and Marines are being killed and maimed.

George Bush can sure talk the talk, but he has never been able to walk the walk.

From almost the very start of George Bush's Presidency, he has been lying to you and me about what we are doing in the world. We killed thousands of innocent women and children in Afghanistan. We dropped unexploded cluster bombs that looked almost exactly like the food packets we were dropping to starving children and when we were told about that, the excuse was given that we dropped leaflets to those same people explaining the risk in making a mistake between the two, but those Afghans couldn't read, even if we used the right language in the right district.

Today George Bush claims victory in Afghanistan, while American troops are still being killed there and Afghanistan has become the largest producer of opium and heroin in the world. George just out and out lies to us, while the rest of the world knows that Afghanistan is now a "narco-state."

Today in Iraq, people live in a constant state of fear. Reliable electricity and clean drinking water are things of the past. Every day streets run with blood and thousands of Iraqis are rounded up to be put in prisons that have been places of American torture.

With out a doubt, the rest of the world knows that the United States is a terrorist nation. We and they have seen the photos of tortured Iraqis and we can't spin that. Our own reports talk about American prison guards kicking prisoners to death, while they are chained to wire ceilings. In our own reports prisoners are found pulling their own hair out of their heads. In our own reports, we are told that we hold children and that we take families hostage, trying to get a family member to turn themselves in. American tactics sound more and more like we have been reading Nazi manuals.

When America attacks a third world country, we use a tactic called "Shock and Awe." We unleash the greatest air force the world has ever known on civilian areas, killing thousands. Baghdad is a city of millions of civilians and the United States bombed that city. That is out and out, terrorism. The world knows that and because of Independent media broadcasts, we can no longer spin the story about precision bombs and rockets. It wasn't true in our first Gulf War and it isn't true in this one.

We have a hell hole of a prison in Cuba that holds people the Secretary of Defense has told the world, even if these people are found innocent, we will keep them forever. That is torture plain and simple.

We tell the world that those we hold in Guantamamo Bay, are "illegal combatants" so we can treat them any way we want and at the same time we have tens of thousands of mercenaries in Iraq. These mercenaries are bought and paid for with American tax money, but they don't have to follow any rules of engagement like our Soldiers have to. I would call them "illegal combatants."

George Bush lied us into this war in Iraq and he continues to lie to us about why we have to continue this illegal war. Iraq never attacked America. Iraq never had weapons with which they could attack America. Iraq never had the means to deliver an attack on our soil even if they had weapons.

Iraq and Afghanistan were and are, two pitiful third world nations who needed our help, not our bombs

George Bush lied and our troops died and thousands and thousands have been horribly wounded, maimed for life. On top of that tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis have been killed and tens of thousands have been maimed. All of this because George Bush got away with lying to the world. Today Bush is still lying and people are still dying. Children are still getting their arms blown off, losing legs, eyes, and minds. .

About the only redeeming thing left for us to save America's reputation, is to impeach the President. Millions, maybe billions will still hate us, but it would be a start in the right direction.
