Dictators, Deciders, and Despots Don't Have to Show Compassion

Six years into his War on Terrorism and now George Bush and his administration are finding out how they really treat our troops.

Defense Secretary Vows Action on Medical Center Conditions
    By DAVID S. CLOUD
WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 — Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Friday that he would move swiftly to improve conditions for wounded soldiers being treated as outpatients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and warned that senior officials would be held accountable for the poor conditions.

David Cloud's article was in the New York Times, and it shows how the Bush administration is not out in front in trying to support our troops, but rather they react to reports that show how poorly American troops are being treated.

How many times have we heard George Bush say that he would make sure that the troops in the field had the equipment they needed to do their job? Well, American families of service men and women are still raising money to buy the body armor their loved ones need while fighting George Bush's War in Iraq.

The Pentagon has reported that they do not have the armored Humvees needed to supply the 21,000 troop surge that George Bush wants for his last ditch effort to salvage something out of Iraq.

For the Bush administration to find out about the horrible conditions our wounded troops are housed in from a newspaper article is so very wrong. Bush and those pushing this war will spend hundreds of billions on new arms programs. They will spend hundreds of millions on civilian contractors in Iraq. They will ship tons of cash money to Iraq in order to buy influence, but when it comes to helping the troops who have given all they can give, George Bush and his administration don't have the money to spend.

After six years as Commander-in-Chief, the treatment of America's troops would make a person believe that George Bush cares nothing for them. Six years into his war, and he has yet to go to even one funeral. George's Dad went to the funerals of servicemen and women while he was President, as did Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter. I guess dictators, deciders, and despots don't have to show compassion for their troops or their troops' loved ones.
