Run Cindy Run!

Cindy Sheehan said, "Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic Leadership," and if the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, doesn't start listening to the people who gave her a chance to show what she could do in a leadership position, she will have to face Sheehan in next year's election.

Pelosi is the perfect example of an "insider" when it comes to politics. One thing she has forgotten while in Washington though, is that she represents a district in San Francisco, and in San Francisco the voters overwhelmingly want the Iraq war ended, and they want George Bush and Dick Cheney impeached.

Cindy Sheehan is a Gold Star Mother, whose son was killed in combat fighting George Bush's war, and she has devoted her life ever since to stopping Bush's war on the Iraqi people. So Sheehan is the darling of the anti-war movement, and Pelosi has Code Pink and other anti-war groups camped out on her front steps protesting her work in the House.

Pelosi might be a liberal Democrat, and she might even be a Progressive Democrat, but what she is not is an effective Democrat, and the Democrats who voted her in have lost their patience.

Americans against this war will pour money into Sheehan's campaign in hopes that her election will serve to teach others in power that when the American people vote to end a war, they expect those they voted in to do just that—end the war. Pelosi deserves to lose her seat in Congress, because she no longer represents the people who voted her into office—so do a lot of other politicians.
