Send The Bill To Our Children

We, you and I, President Bush and the Congress are going to hit our ATM again. This time we are taking out $146 billion, and get this, we are going to blow that money with foolish spending.

It is not the first time America has borrowed money just to spend it. After all, our National Debt is up over $ 9 trillion dollars now, but usually we have some half-baked idea of why we are borrowing money.

This time we are being honest, and we know we are going to take this loan, so we can try and spend our way to prosperity. The theory is, if we "stimulate the economy" with a spending spree, everything will get back to normal. Yesterday, the House passed this so called "stimulus package," with a vote of 385 to 35. Just about everybody in Congress likes to spend money, especially during an election year.

Of course, you know that most the Congressmen and women who voted for this bill will be long dead before we pay this loan back. It will be our children and grandchildren who are stuck with this bill along with the $9 trillion we already owe. After all, when you owe as much as we do, what's another $146 billion?

At the rate we spend money in this country, the chances are pretty good that we will go bankrupt before we have to pay any of our debt off. After that, we will have a new country starting out with zero debt. Maybe that is the plan, they just are not telling us.
