There is a Difference

This weekend I heard John McCain say on National Public Radio that the first thing he would do if elected, would be to sign a presidential directive to stop all torture by the American military. I applaud the man for that.

That comment by McCain made me wonder what Barack Obama would do first thing if elected, and Senator Obama, in a speech before The Planned Parenthood Action Fund on July 17th, 2007 said," The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'd do."

Here is how most people read the Freedom of Choice Act.

The Freedom of Choice Act (H.R. 3719 / S. 2020) is a bill in the United states Congress which, if enacted, would abolish all restrictions and limitations on the right of women in the United States to have an abortion, whether at the State or Federal level.

So, even though I still believe there is little if any difference between the Democrat Party and the Republican Party, there is a difference in priorities as these two "first acts" show us.
