Which Barack Obama Did You Vote For?

Did you vote for the Barack Obama who talked about ending George Bush's wars, and the man who said he was going to change the way things were done in Washington? Or, did you vote for the Barack Obama, who is expanding the war in Afghanistan, and who the San Francisco Gate reports:

For the second time this week, the Obama administration has gone to court in San Francisco to argue for secrecy in defending a terrorism policy crafted under George Bush—in this case wiretapping that President Obama denounced as a candidate.

How about this? Did you vote for the Barack Obama, that as candidate Obama, promised that when a bill came before Congress, the American people and Congress would have enough time to read the bill before it was voted on? Or, did you vote for the Barack Obama that rushed through a stimulus bill so fast that nobody got to read the bill before it was passed?

Did you vote for candidate Barack Obama who seemed so right as a change candidate, or did you later find out you voted for the candidate Barack Obama that used fear as a weapon, (much as George Bush used fear as a weapon) to get his way with the passage of the stimulus bill?

Do you now wonder, if it was so important to pass the stimulus bill before the American people and Congress had a chance to read it, why President Barack Obama takes a three day vacation before he even considers signing this bill? How many people will lose their job or home because of Obama's vacation? Remember it was imperative to get this bill passed as fast as possible.

Did you vote for Barack Obama because he made it seem like he was going to hold George Bush and Dick Cheney responsible for how they trashed our Constitution? Well, President Obama now says he is looking forward, not backwards. George and Dick are going to skate.

Do you really think that candidate, Barack Obama, as President Barack Obama will take on the Patriot Act?

Obama voted to reauthorize the USA PATRIOT Act, which extended the Act.

How about wiretapping? Did you think candidate Obama would take that on?

Obama had previously opposed legislation that granted legal immunity for telecommunications companies that helped the Bush administration to conduct wiretaps without warrants, but later voted in favor of a compromise bill that included such provisions.

Believe me, it is not as easy now as it was before the election to find out how Senator Barack Obama voted on things. Soon his new political machine will obliterate most references to his voting record, and his promises as a candidate. That should be no surprise, as in everything, the victor gets to write history the way they want it.

So, just remember, our new President Obama is not Candidate Obama. They are different men and they have different ideals. Candidate Obama did his job, he got President Obama elected.
