And You Thought George Bush Was Bad

I gotta tell you, President Barack Obama is now scaring me more than George Bush did, and George Bush was pretty Hitleresque to me.

President Obama's White House is now asking Americans to forward e-mails they get that are critical of Obama's health care plans. That does not seem right to me, as it stifles free speech, and free speech is a right that every American citizen is supposed to have. I am sure I must be on some lists in Washington for my views, but if this plan goes through, millions of Americans will be listed by the White House, and who knows what that could mean for their future.

Here is how ABC News reported the story:

ABC News' Rick Klein reports:

A Republican senator is calling for the White House to suspend a new project that asks members of the public to flag "fishy" claims about President Obama's health care plans, arguing that it raises privacy concerns and will serve to chill free speech.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is sending a letter to the White House today asking the president to "cease this program immediately" — or to explain how Americans' privacy will be protected if e-mails are forwarded to the White House as requested.

"I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed 'fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests," Cornyn writes

"I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House. I suspect that you would have been leading the charge in condemning such a program — and I would have been at your side.

Senator Cornyn is right. If George Bush had tried this, the Democrats, and I hope the Republicans, too, would have gone nuts. Remember when Bush tried to get a national ID card passed? Most States refused to go along. When any White House starts down the same path the Nazis went, ("May I see your papers please?") Americans on the Left and the Right say, "Stop."

Barack Obama and his people are going around the country saying that they were elected because Americans wanted change. The trouble with that statement is that the changes Obama talked about as a candidate, are not the changes he is working toward as President.

  • America did not vote to get another war monger in the White House, but that is what we got.
  • America did not vote to get another President who sends us further in debt, but that is what we got.
  • And for sure, America did not vote to get another President who disregards our Constitution, but that is also what we got.

Barack Obama might have been voted into office in the hope for change, but in truth ,the man is George Bush's third term, only more frightening.

Post Script:

In case you are wondering about the "War Monger" reference, and you know nothing about Barack Omama's own military surge in Afghanistan, check out this link about Obama's push to get us a new "bunker buster" bomb. Each bomb weighs in at 30,000 pounds and will blast through 200 feet of reinforced concrete. Just a new toy for a peace loving country and its new President who wanted to change things.
