Do You Think This Health Care Bill Is For Us?

I've been watching this health care debate play itself out, and the more I watch it, the more I think the insurance industry is the only one going to make out.

It seems like the media is only reporting on one bill, but I think four bills have been voted on and are in the mix. Really, we don't know what is in any of these bills, and I do believe that the last one the Senate committee voted on has not been written yet. So other than a couple of Senators, and the people writing the bill, (that could be insurance industry lobbyists) nobody knows the details, and we all know the devil is in the details.

It does seem reasonable that if there is no public option, and the government is going to mandate that the insurance companies must take anyone, preexisting condition or not, our rates are going to go up.

For some strange reason, 65% of the American people want a public option, (government insurance plan) but only about 30% of our elected officials want it. Could this have anything to do with the fact that members of both houses of Congress, from both parties have been taking money from the health insurance industry for years?

Yes, I believe there will be a health care bill passed. No, it won't cover everyone, and I don't think it was ever meant to. That was a red herring called Universal Health Care. Something will be passed. It won't lower health care costs, if fact, it might just raise them.

I don't think the changes proposed for our health care were ever supposed to help you or me. I think the whole plan was to keep us interested in health care, while Washington was giving trillions to Wall Street and the banking industry. The health care debate was just a cover they used to distract us from everything else they wanted to do.

I wrote about the passage of the Defense Bill last week. Do you remember any debate? How about the reauthorization of the Patriot Act? You would have thought the Democrats would have stopped that in its tracks, but did you hear any debate on that either? All the Democrats are talking health care, while everything else slides right on through.

What else slides through? We don't know, because it isn't just the Democrats talking about health care, it's the media, too. Heck, unless at least a half dozen Soldiers or Marines get killed in one fire fight, they don't even report on individual Soldiers dying any more.

Like I said, something on health care will be passed, but it won't be for you or me. But just as the Defense Bill made billions for the Defense Industry, this Health Care Bill will make billions for the Health care/Insurance Industry. What will we get? ...not much.
