They Still Hate Us

Some might claim we have been in this War on Terrorism for over eight years now, but I think it has been a lot longer than that. Remember the World Trade Center was bombed the first time back in 1993. That would put this war at 16 years and counting.

Washington and our politicians still haven't figured out why Muslims are willing to take their own lives in order to attack us. Washington still believes we are nothing if not virtuous. They think we can do no wrong and that we are only out to help the rest of the world.

The only problem with that way of thinking is that most of the rest of the world does not see us in that light. Let's be honest here. The Muslim world started out hating us because we back Israel. Think about this, in the early 1990's Iraq tried to take over part of Kuwait. Well we put a stop to that in what we called the First Gulf War. When that war was over, we proceeded to put an embargo on Iraq that they claim, and we admit, killed over 500,000 Iraqi children.

For decades Israel has been taking Palestinian land and sending Palestinian people to refuge camps, while the United States looks the other way. That is what got us into this mess, but we have only ourselves to blame for keeping this war going.

In 2003, the United States attacked Iraq again. While much of the world believes we have killed over a million innocent Iraqis, even we have to admit we have killed and maimed hundreds of thousands. On top of that nobody can deny that we have displaced many millions of Iraqi citizens, and that makes it look like we are taking pages out of the Israeli play book.

Yes, we were attacked on 2001 and almost 3,000 innocent Americans were killed, but in a tit for tat war, we attacked Afghanistan, and we have been killing Muslims there for over eight years now. The following article will show why the Muslim world and much of the rest of the world still hates us.

'Afghan Civilians Killed' in US/Nato Military Operations; School Children Among Dead

KABUL — Ten civilians, mostly school children, have been killed during Western military operations in eastern Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai's office said Monday, citing "initial reports".

That is just one story among hundreds about our killing of innocent civilians in Afghanistan. Add to that, our war in Iraq, complete with the pictures of our torture of Iraqi civilians, our prison in Cuba where we are holding people, some who are children, with no chance of a trail ever, and you can start to see from where the hate of America is coming.

Now we are bombing targets in Pakistan and Yemen, with no declaration of war. Under the leadership of President Barack Obama, America continues to use the policy adopted under President George Bush, where we can attack anyone any place, as long as we think they might want to attack us some day.

Policies like that make people afraid of us, and fear soon turns to hate. The Muslim world, and a lot of the rest of the world, hates us, because we kill, we maim, we make the rules, and we don't care what the rest of the world thinks. We are the only Super Power on the globe, and much of the world looks at us as being the Evil Empire.

As long as we keep killing, they will keep hating. America is not willing to give peace a chance, and in truth we haven't been willing to do that for at least two generations.
