"Listen, We Screwed Up Big Time, But I Have a Golf Game To Play Now"

Of course those are not the exact words that President Obama used Monday when he was talking about the terrorist attack on the American commercial aircraft that was headed to Detroit this past weekend. He was however on vacation, and he did head out to the links after his short speech. Here is how Politco.com reported it:

After delivering his first public remarks Monday about a Nigerian man's attempt to blow up a Northwest Airlines jetliner over Detroit, the president motorcaded to the golf course at a nearby country club. Optics aside, it had taken Obama three days to issue a statement on the incident, and the administration was left struggling to control the message.

The White House is going to blow off this breach in our nation's security like it blew off the party crashers at the White House last month. I don't like the wars President Obama is continuing in Afghanistan and Iraq. More than those two, his new wars in Pakistan and Yemen scare me. How many countries can we take on before some major attack gets through our defense here at home?

So, last night President Obama put down his golf clubs and gave another talk about the terrorist that the passengers were forced to capture on that flight to Detroit. Here is what the New York Times reported.

"A systemic failure has occurred and I consider that totally unacceptable," Mr. Obama told reporters here in Hawaii, where he is in the middle of a 10-day holiday vacation. The president said he has ordered government agencies to report back to him on Thursday about what happened and said he would "insist on accountability at every level," although he did not elaborate.

Yes, I suppose a President needs some time off, but not ten days in a row, and not when our troops are fighting in four countries. The more we attack, the more vigilant we must be here at home. Maybe the President wants to calm our fears by going back to the golf course, but that does not work. What we need now is leadership.

Americans suffered under George Bush's constant vacations for eight years, and we now know how much his lack of interest in our economy hurt America. Barack Hussein Obama now seems to be a George Bush clone while working at the White House, and while on vacation playing golf, too.
