What Are They Hiding Behind Haiti?

Yes, I think it is a horrible plight the Haitian people are in, and my heart and prayers go out to them. That said, like so many things going on around the world, the American media takes hold of this story and forgets everything else.

There are hundreds of media personal in Haiti, and they were some of the first people to arrive after the earthquake. Just think of how many medical supplies and personal could have gotten there if only a dozen media people went, and the rest of the space was used for things that could help the Haitian people?

Sunday night, at 7:01, the New York Times had these headlines on the front page of their web site.

The Times had nothing about the Health Care Bill going through Congress. Nothing about the Cap and Trade Bill. Nothing about home foreclosures. Nothing about employment figures and what Washington plans to do to increase the number of Americans working. Nothing about our national debt or either of our wars in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Our media knows what it is doing, and right now it is working hand in hand with Washington to keep the American public focused on a country that is worse off than we are.

It is the old story of "out of sight, out of mind." They keep us thinking about the plight of the Haitian people, and Washington can slip through things you and I will never hear about.

So, we don't know what they are hiding from us, but we do know that Haiti is a wonderful cover for them.
