There's No News Like No News

Think back to when Barack Obama told us that there was no way he would ever in any way raise taxes for people who make less than $250,000 a year. He was very clear about it. In fact, the only thing he didn't say about not raising taxes was, "Read my lips." However, as we now all know, like the first George Bush, Barack Obama lied. He lied because he raised the cigarette tax. Of course he called that a "Fee" not a tax, and well, maybe he thought only rich people smoke.

Now, with his new budget announced Monday, President Obama is going to raise a lot of people's taxes—yes, a lot of people who make way less that $250K. You may ask, "Who said that, Jim?" Well, I'll tell you who—Monday, February 1, at 4:09 pm ET Reuters put out a story by Terri Cullen titled, "Backdoor taxes to hit middle class." I read, it, emailed it to myself, and even printed it out.

But then, something very odd happened. Four hours later, on that same day, at 8:07 pm ET, Reuters pulled that story. The following was the notice they gave.

Advisory: Backdoor taxes to hit middle class
Reuters

Mon Feb 1, 8:07 pm ET

The story Backdoor taxes to hit middle class has been withdrawn. A replacement story will run later in the week.

Now, I'm not saying the White House quashed that story, I don't know who did, but the whole story is about how Barack Obama is going to tax middle class Americans over and over again.

Here is a line from the story that I think is the reason it was pulled:

While the administration is focusing on eliminating tax breaks for individuals who earn $250,000 a year or more, middle-class families will face a slew of these backdoor increases

Like I said, I don't know who took this story off the internet, but the whole story was about how President Obama was going back on his word, and is going to tax the middle-class about every way he can. They are even talking about taxing the first $2,400 of unemployment benefits, the $250 deduction teachers can take for classroom supplies they buy out of their own pocket, and the $4,000 tax deduction for college tuition and expenses.

In the State of the Union speech, President Obama said he was going to pay off the trillion dollars deficit he caused last year, and it looks like he is going to make the middle-class pay that bill. Who knows what he is going to do with the trillion plus he is putting us in the hole for this coming year.

Any way you look at it, somebody did not like that article, and they got Reuters to pull it. That takes a powerful person.
