I'll Keep It Short

I was watching clips of the President's news conference today, and it reminded me of how much politics and corporations control everything he does.

Even though President Obama said he was in charge of what is going on in the Gulf with that oil fiasco, and he said it is the first thing he thinks about in the morning, and the last thing he thinks about at night, I don't buy it. Tomorrow President Obama will be making his second trip to the Gulf region since that drilling platform exploded. In that same time frame, Obama has been able to make four trips to California to help in fundraisers for Senator Barbara Boxer. I could say that Obama is in charge of Boxer's fund raising, but I would not say he is in charge of anything to do with that oil spill.

Just maybe BP has told the President to keep his distance, and they would handle everything. I believe corporations call the shots for what President Obama does.

I think of Obama's Health Care Plan. The medical and insurance industry called the shots with that legislation, and they got pretty much what they wanted.

That new bill that was supposed to rein in Wall Street doesn't do much.

It wasn't that long ago that jobs were the first thing the President thought of when he woke up, and jobs were the last thing he thought about before he went to bed, but when he spent the money from that stimulus package, most of it went to corporations, and little of it was for job creation.

I'm not saying that President Obama is the first President to be controlled by politics and corporations, I think they all are. The only difference is that Obama said he was going to be different. He knew what other presidents were like, and who controlled them. He told us he would be different, but he isn't.
