I Guess We Do Count Them

The 92,000 documents that Wikileaks gave to the world contains over 200,000 pages of information and it is going to take a long time to explore that much information. What we do know is that these documents cover 2004 to 2009 in America's war in Afghanistan. We are told they are the field reports about every action taken by our troops.

The Pentagon has always said that they don't do body counts, so they have no idea of how many civilians or how many Taliban have been killed in this war. Well surprise, the Pentagon was lying. It seems as though these released documents paint a pretty accurate picture of how many civilians and military (Taliban) deaths we have caused, and the number given so far is over 20,000.

Someday, somebody will sit down and do a count, as there are no running totals that we know of. We will then learn just how many wedding parties we have massacred. How many children we have killed, maybe it will be detailed enough to tell us how many mothers with children we have killed.

Washington and the White House is mad about these classified documents being shown to the American people and the world. It doesn't look good to know that we have been the cause of thousands of innocent civilians being killed.

There was a reason the Pentagon kept those figures secret. Those numbers of innocent deaths are what helped stop the Vietnam War, and the Pentagon wants this war to continue on at least until the current generals in charge can retire, and get high paying jobs with defense contractors like their former commanders have.

But now we know, because the numbers are out, and they have been keeping count. They just thought they would be able to keep everything classified for another 50 years, but it didn't work out that way.
