Workin'

I was thinking about all these interesting things to write about today, but by the time I got back to the house, I was too tired to remember what they were about. I spent a wonderful afternoon working in the studio, and by the time I finished up I was as they say down here, "Plum tuckered out."

I haven't done my kind of wood work since I moved my shop out of Tallahassee in January. So, to say the least, I'm out of shape. Last fall I could use a palm sander all day long and never give it a thought. Today, I could last about twenty minutes before my arm was getting sore, and by the end of the day it was five minutes,

I wasn't doing anything heavy, just cutting pieces on the band saw, sanding off the saw marks with the pedestal sander, then rounding the edges with the palm sander, and then I finished up with some hand sanding.

I finished 41 pieces today, and last fall I would easily have done over 150 pieces and feel good after. Right now I am sore and tired and ready to take a shower and head for bed.

I gotta tell you though, I feel great about just getting back to work. This weekend I'll post photos of the workshop, and take a few shots from the inside so you can see what I am looking at as I work. Ah, life is good.
