I Think We Are Weak

People still marvel at how America turned things around after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Most Americans think the same would happen if it ever had to, and I used to agree with that assessment. I no longer do.

Americans are different today. We are soft and out of shape. More that half of us are obese, and we no longer have the work force we had back in the early 1940s. We really don't have the skills to ramp up production like we did back then. For starters, consider the fact that because we don't manufacture any more, we no longer even have factories we can convert from civilian work to defense.

If you think about it, Americans live in fear. There is a reason you don't see kids out playing in the street. Parents are afraid to let kids play on their own. Now it has to be organized, supervised, and safe if kids are going to do anything physical.

Kids don't ride bikes around town, they have bike paths. When they do ride, they have helmets, shin and elbow pads , and rear view mirrors. Heck, kids don't even get dirty anymore. Yes, we are now born soft, and we grow up soft.

Now-a-days, we live in fear of TERRORISTS. Washington pumps that fear into us, and our major media outlets do the same thing. Washington keeps taking our rights away from us with laws like the PATRIOT ACT. Now they can sneak into our homes, look around all they want, and they don't even have to tell us they did it.

It gets worse. Now the government at any airport can make you stand there and watch as total strangers grope your teenage daughter or son, even your three year old child, and get this, if you opt out of that groping for your loved ones, they claim they can fine you $11,000 dollars.

Here is why I say we are weak. Not one American had pasted a TSA groper. Not one American has been arrested for trying to protect his wife or child. Americans are weak, because they live in fear of terrorists and will let anyone do any thing to them or their loved ones if they are promised it will make them safer.

Truthfully, I am ashamed of my fellow Americans, and anyone who goes through these new security checks is a sheep in my book. If you have to fly for your job? Quit! At least you would have your dignity. I really don't believe Americans back in the 1940s would have stood for this crap.
