I Couldn't Do It

You know how it is. You have everything you need for Christmas, but maybe there is something you missed. So, the day before Christmas Eve, yesterday, you head out to the mall.

I knew I had made a mistake as I got on the street where I would have to turn into the mall parking lot. The street was jammed with cars, but I was already in the turning lane, and then I had a green arrow. After circling the parking lot a few times, BINGO, I found a space right in front of Sears! Of course Sears was not the store I wanted, but heck it was close to the door. I went in through Sears to the main hall in the mall. My store was way at the other end, and I would have to transverse that concourse that was filled with a sea of other last minute shoppers and their children who were now out of school.

I'll admit it. I couldn't do it. Something told me I had to leave. I guess I didn't forget anything after all. I knew right then this year's shopping was done. I made somebody's day when I pulled out of my up-close parking spot, and in twenty minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic I was out of the parking lot and headed back home.

Well, I'll never do that again.

I think that was my exact thought the last time I did this.
