Rational from Irrational?

I don't understand how so many members of Congress can think that they have found a rational response to the irrational act of shooting a member of Congress, the killing of six bystanders, and the wounding of many more.

Some Congressmen are all ready to stop free speech by those on radio who disagree with them. Other have said that the shooting was caused by Sarah Palin. Still others are saying the gun did it, and we should outlaw all guns in private citizens' hands.

Nobody wants to take the time and wait until the authorities can present the facts in the case. Like with so many other things they have to deal with, many members of Congress are already creating their own facts.

I took a few minutes and tried to read the writings of the shooter, Jared Loughner. None of it made any sense. The man was not a Democrat or Republican, and in fact he didn't even vote in the last election, but already many say this shooting was a political act. It seems that no one can believe that the man could have been deranged.

So, in the next few weeks Congress is going to hype this story for all it is worth in order to try and blame this senseless shooting on something that makes their particular bill look like the fix needed to stop future shootings.

Personally, I believe many in Congress are just as deranged at Loughner. All you have to do is listen to them trying to make a rational argument using the irrational actions of a sick man as their proof.
