What's This About Our Troops?

Sure I know it was the 4th of July, but I have to tell you I am getting sick of politicians telling me that we should be thankful that our troops are defending America while they are fighting in Afghanistan.

We first attacked Afghanistan in October 2001, and our troops have been in combat there ever since. Our excuse for attacking was to kill or capture Osama bin Laden, but we admit he slipped out of Afghanistan soon after our troops got there.

Now we know that no Afghans were in the 9/11 attack on our country, and we also know that Afghanistan never threatened to attack us, nor did they have the means to attack us if they wanted to. You see, Afghanistan had no army, no navy, and no air force.

So, I don't know how anyone could think that our troops are defending our country by killing Afghanis. Even if we pulled our troops from Afghanistan 10 years ago, we here in the United States would not have to worry about Afghanistan putting together an attack on us.

Did you know that Afghanistan is so pitiful that only 30% of that county has electric power, and the power that 30% has is not dependable. No electricity means no refrigeration, no lights, and no indoor plumbing.

Afghanistan is on the other side of the world, and they have a hard time just staying alive. Afghanistan might just be the most pitiful country on earth, but our politicians will tell us time after time that our troops are defending us from these pitiful people. I'll tell you what our troops are defending. They are defending the same thing they had defended in every war we have has since WWII. Our troops are defending the profits that the rich who own the Military Industrial Complex make off our wars.

Oh yeah, about that excuse for our Afghan war that we had to go in and get Osama bin Laden. Well, that excuse went away when we killed him in Pakistan last year. That was over a year ago, but we still are killing Afghans, and hundreds of our troops have been killed since then, and thousands have been wounded. Our troops are dying and being maimed to keep the money flowing to those Americans who own our Defense Industry. Is that sick or what?
