Citizenship, May Not Be, All Its Cracked Up To Be?

American Citizenship has for the last hundred years or so been a prize that people the world over have hungered after and yes, have envied. The American Citizen has had protections that citizens of other countries could only dream of. George Bush and his War have decided that citizenship is not all it was cracked up to be.

Maybe George believes, the President of the United States has the power to over rule those protections that American Citizenship have always given us. Maybe George believes that just George has the power to over rule the protections American Citizenship affords us. Scary huh?

It seems that a couple of those Taliban that we are holding in Cuba are United States Citizens. Oh what a hassle that is. Now they have rights, like to a lawyer, charges, due process, OH, OH, wait just a second, I think we can get around these pesky citizenship problems.

All we have to do is say that President George Bush, in time of War, is more powerful and much smarter that that old court system. Neat huh? Oh, we in Washington are so very smart and you out in the "homeland" are so dumb, that we know that you will fall for this.

In fact the Department of Defense argued just this week that a Federal Judge infringed on the President's war powers when he said that one of those American Citizens, suspected of being a Taliban could speak to his attorneys.

Hey, Foreign Nationals, you want to throw them to the dogs? OK, I really have no problem there. Well yes I do, but that isn't the point here. What the point here is, American Citizens have the right to be innocent until proven guilty. The President of the United States doesn't believe in that and he and I disagree on Constitutional Rights.

First it will be an American Citizen, suspected to be a Taliban, then an American Citizen, suspected of domestic terrorism, and soon George will be putting any Americans away, that write bad things about him. Do any of you think that Adolph Hitler was given all his powers at once, no it was little steps that got away from the people.

The Department of Defense also stated that the Judge, "In doing so, however may not second guess the military's determination that the detainee is an enemy combatant" I was in the military and I can only hope and pray that some one out there has the guts to second guess the military in any thing that takes our Constitutional rights away from us. This and so many things about George Bush's way of running our country, is frightening.
