At What Point Will We Know?

At what point will America no longer be our country?

We should be asking ourselves this question now before we lose our nation to the creation of something George Bush and those that are telling him what to do want. At what point do we have to get to, before Americans start waking up? After our country is gone, we will never get it back so we better set some limits right now.

Just how many rights are we going to be able to give away and still call this country a democracy? Washington has been nibbling around the edges of our freedoms for years, but now they are taking out big bites.

William Safire writes on this new Homeland Security Act that congress is passing and the President is chomping at the bit for, "Every purchase you make with a credit card, every magazine subscription you buy and medical prescription you fill, every Web site you visit and e-mail you send or receive, every academic grade you receive, every bank deposit you make, every trip you book and every event you attend, All these transactions and communications will go into what the Defense Department describes as a 'virtual centralized grand database'." That is George Bush's vision of Homeland Security.

That is a big bite out of the privacy of every American. That however is just the tip of iceberg. Nothing in America receives a "National Debate" anymore. Now President Bush and his cronies just sit down and decide what America will be doing and we as citizens have no say so, nor input. Many important bills like the Patriot Act are not even read by Congress before they vote on it. Just about every bill passed has some attachments that have nothing to do with that bill and that is where citizens lose. There are no "clean"bills anymore.

Now President Bush and his handlers have decided that we, you and I want to start testing Nuclear Weapons again! Do any of you remember that in George's campaign?

America is running all over this planet telling every other country that Weapons of Mass Destruction have no place in their arsenal, but America with thousands and thousands of these weapons needs to start developing some more. Now does that make you feel safer or that you have any say in your own country?

Here is an example of attachments to bills. In the defense authorization bill that was passed by Congress this past week there was a little line that said U.S. nuclear weapons laboratories-Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos, and Sandia- should be ready to resume testing with as little as six months notice.

We have a War on Terrorism going and President Bush and those telling him what to do want to start a new war with Iraq. Hundreds of millions of people in this world believe that America, you and I are the terrorists in this world and Osama and his boys are fighting for freedom. Freedom from us. Freedom from the dictators and the troops that we send to guard their government from them.

My question is, who is going to guard you and I from our government?
