It Would Be Unseemly For the President to Vacation Now

It would seem unseemly, but that is exactly what the Commander-in-Chief is doing. I am not talking about taking a weekend to recharge the batteries at Camp David which would be understandable, no, I am talking about President Bush taking Five Weeks.

That's right, 5 weeks in Texas. You want to tell me how many Americans get five weeks of paid vacation in one stretch? There is a War going on, and George Bush is in charge.

In those five weeks about 70 Americans will be killed in Iraq and another 600 or so will be wounded if current trends stay the same. Heck, 9 Americans have been killed there in the last 48 hours. I know if I was a Marine or Soldier in Iraq, I would like to have 5 weeks off about now.

George Bush will ask young Americans to die for his idea about how to fight terrorism, but he will not even stay on the job while they are dieing for him, and when they do die, George Bush will not have the courtesy to go to their funeral.

President Bush did not hear his Nation's Call to Arms, when he was a young man, and now that he is the one doing the calling, he goes AWOL again.

When troops are in the field, it is not the time for the President to sit back like things are all hunky-dory. George has not a care in the world.

Things are right on track as far as he is concerned, so why not take a month or so off? What are the deaths and wounding of another 700 young Americans to George? It's vacation time, and he is taking it.
