The Second American Revolution

I believe that most revolutions come about because one segment of a country's population gets fed up with another segment. Here in America, the rich are getting richer, not just richer, but "way" richer.

The New York Times published a story by David Cay Johnston, titled "Report Says That the Rich are Getting Richer Faster, Much Faster." The story starts out with, "The increase in incomes of the top 1 percent of Americans from 2003 to 2005 exceeded the total income of the poorest 20 percent of Americans, data in a new report by the Congressional Budget Office shows."

Now remember, that was just the increase of wealth for the richest 1% which was higher than the total income for that poorest 20%.

Here is another way to look at it. Those rich people at the top saw their income rise by an average of $465,700.00 a year, while those in that bottom 20% saw their income go up by just $200.00 a year.

All you have to do is look around, and you can see shopping centers for the rich with everything kind of store imaginable, while the shopping center for the poor is called Wal-Mart.

Rich people have their own restaurants, where a meal for two can cost what a family of four pays to eat for a month. Rich people have incredible cars, while poor people have to by used cars. Rich people live in crime free neighborhoods, while the poor live in "the hood."

Rich people have private clinics for their medical care, while the poor have the emergency room.

Now, I'm not poor. I am what they call the middle class, but if you want to know the truth, America's middle class is a lot closer to poor people's life style than they are to the rich, and if you look at the rate the rich are increasing their wealth, the middle class is getting farther and farther away from the rich every year.

People in Washington, our elected officials, have no idea what it is like to be poor in America, but let me tell you, the population of the poor is expanding much faster than the population of the rich, and some day all of those poor people are going to shout out "Bullshit."

Those poor people are going to go after the rich just like they have done all throughout history, and that will be called, The Second American Revolution

Post Script:

I have no idea of when this revolution might start, but I do know that the loss of so many of our freedoms these last six years has brought us closer to that date. The more that Washington clamps down on our citizens, the faster the majority will get fed up with what is going on in this country. We have to face the fact that we no longer live in the "Land of the Free," that our parents lived in.
