Limbo
by James Glaser April 15, 2009 Here is how Merriam-Webster defines limbo.
Rachel Madow, a dyed-in-the-wool backer of Barack Obama is starting to see the light. The headline for her show reads Obama Takes Bush Position on Habeas Corpus. Take a moment, go to the link, and see what she says. It's just a few minutes long. Here is the deal, our country has been going around the globe kidnapping people we think are the bad guys. We now fly them to a prison we have set up at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, and we hold them there... forever. They are in limbo. These prisoners have no rights. Under George Bush we would send these kind of prisoners to our prison in Cuba or one of the many other secret prisons we had set up all over the world. Well, the world found out about those prisons, and since they were no longer secret, George had to close them. Still we had our prison in Cuba, but some federal judge said it was wrong to just leave people there to rot. He said even these people had to have their day in court. Well, that wrecked everything, because any proof we had that these people were bad, came from our torturing them. Torture is a war crime, and President Bush said, "We don't torture." So we couldn't keep sending prisoners to Cuba, because they had rights, and if a person has rights, you can't keep them in limbo. That is when we decided to send people to our prison in Afghanistan. Nobody has rights in Afghanistan, so we could keep people in limbo there... forever. Some federal judge screwed that up, too. It seems if you are not from Afghanistan, but are held in prison there, you have the same rights as the people who were in limbo in Cuba. However, if you are in prison in Afghanistan, and you are from Afghanistan, then you have no rights at all, and limbo is perfectly fine for you. George Bush tried to fight this ruling in court, but lost. Now, Barack Obama is thinking this limbo thing is a good thing, and he is fighting in court so he can do the same things to prisoners that George Bush did. According to Rachel Madow, we have been holding some people for over seven years now. They don't get a lawyer, they don't get a court date, they don't get to even tell their families that they are alive. Plus, there is the added bonus that America can torture these people to death, and they can never say anything because there are no rights in limbo. Barack Obama told America he was about change, but he lied. Barack Obama is just a darker shade of George Bush. Both, very evil men. |
