You Know, You Gotta Have A Plan

Barack Obama ran for president on ideas of bringing the troops home from Iraq, closing the prison in Guantanamo Bay, and bringing change to Washington.

Well, he hasn't done any of those things. The troops are not going to come home from Iraq or Afghanistan any time in the foreseeable future. Last week an American soldier on his third tour in the combat zone killed five of his comrades when he flipped out. It is reported that more and more of our troops are taking antipsychotic drugs to cope with depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many soldiers and Marines are on their forth and some on even their fifth tour of duty.

Obama promised change, but in foreign policy our new President is following in the footsteps of George Bush. President Obama, like President Bush, is afraid to lose a war, and will sacrifice as many troops (lives) as it takes so he can claim some sort of victory.

With no plan to exit Iraq or Afghanistan, and no plan to end these wars, troops can look forward to unending tours of combat. It looks like the only plan out there is to keep men and women fighting until they run amok and start killing their own people. American society is going to be paying for the mental stress on our troops for decades to come. All because there is no plan.

Get this. The Democrats will not fund Barack Obama's order to close our prison in Guantanamo Bay because the President has no plan for the prisoners we are holding there. Obama is saying, "Give me the money, and I'll come up with a plan." His own Party is not buying that, because President Obama has had a lot of ideas, but no plan on how he will carry out those ideas that he can show Congress or the American people.

When I was in the Marine Corps, there was a big sign at a base in Vietnam that said, "Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance." That might be a bit crude, but President Obama should take heed of that saying. Mr. President, You gotta have a plan.
