I Don't know What All The Fuss Is

I heard President Obama say that the national health plan he is pushing would cost one trillion dollars, but that was over ten years, so it would only be 100 billion a year. Obama said that, and I didn't hear anyone dispute those numbers.

Now the whole country is talking about this proposed health plan. Some are for it and some are against, but for sure we all know more about this bill than any other bill in recent history.

So, I thinking, why is the whole country so upset and involved in this bill. One hundred billion a year really isn't that big a deal when you look at our national budget. Every year we spend six times that much on our defense budget, and nobody even bothers to dissect that bill like we have this health care bill.

Not only do we spend 600 billion every year on defense, we add on top of that all the costs for the Bush/Obama War on Terrorism. When we add in those costs, it is easy to believe we are spending a trillion dollars every year just on defense, and Obama only wants to spend one trillion over a ten year period on health care.

Health care for every American for 10% of our defense budget is a bargain, and you know what? If we looked at the defense budget the way we have been looking at this health care bill, it should be easy to find enough savings to make the health care bill seem "free."

If we are going to fuss over this small health bill, we all should really fuss over everything else Congress and the President want to do with our money.
