Democrats, "Let's Get This Bankruptcy Over With"

The Democrats in Congress are now willing to keep adding to our deficit and make no attempt whatsoever to cut spending. Never mind making an effort to pay down on the debt we owe right now.

Last week it was reported that 47% of American citizens pay nothing in taxes, and most of them get a tax return check. That means some of the money from the other 53%, who are paying in is redistributed to the 47% who pay nothing.

It seems like everybody could pay something, like a $100 bucks. A hundred dollars isn't a lot of money to have the freedom we have, the highway system, Medicare, The EPA, the FBI, Food and Drug, and all the rest of the federal government. Besides that, people would actually feel better if they pitched in even a little. 47% of the people times a hundred dollars would be a lot of money. Maybe enough to pay the interest on our debt.

Here is the Democrats answer to all of this:

Senate Agrees to Temporary Jobless Benefits Extension

WASHINGTON—The Senate on Monday agreed to consider a temporary extension of unemployment benefits after four Republicans joined Democrats in voting to debate the proposal, which has become the focus of an intensifying fight over deficit spending.

The $9 billion cost of the aid would be added to the deficit, which Democrats said was justified because of the grim national employment picture.

$9 billion dollars is a lot of money, but we spend hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars every year on defense. It has been reported that we spend more on defense than the rest of the world combined.

Maybe, we could have put off buying a couple of jet fighters. Yes, they cost a lot. That way we wouldn't have to pull out our national credit card for this unemployment benefit extension.

Some day, it is going to happen, we are going to owe more than we can ever pay off. Many think we are there now, but Washington refuses to count the money we owe in Social Security benefits or any other unfunded mandate. They think they are hiding those bills from the American public.

When that day arrives that we can't borrow any more to fund our lifestyle, we will either print enough money to make everybody's saving worth nothing, or we will go bankrupt.

We could stop spending now, but the party in power, the Democrats, refuse to see the writing on the wall, and they keep right on spending.

Yes, I know the Republicans went nuts with our credit card while George Bush was President, but that was then, and this is now. We have to stop some time, but we know now, it just isn't going to happen with Barack Obama and the Democrats in charge.
