You know it is nice that Washington is working on changing the Pentagon's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy about gays in the military and I guess it is good we are working on a treaty with Russia about nuclear weapons. Yes, and it is good that Congress is finally getting around to putting together some sort of budget, But what about America's unemployed? This from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Many people claim that 15.1 million number for the unemployed should really be at 22 million plus. But no matter which number you use, we have millions and millions of American citizens without a job, and President Obama and our Congress has job creation on the back burner, while they work on all these other bills. So, how many Americans do you think are affected by this unemployment? 25 million? 50 million? Maybe a 100 million? There are the families of those workers. The people who are not getting paid their rent or mortgage payment by these unemployed. And how about all the people who can't sell anything to these unemployed workers or their families. How do you think the children of these unemployed are coping? You think it hurts their ability to learn in school? How long can we keep unemployment numbers like we have? At what point do we have a large percentage of American citizens just giving up? So, I guess President Obama and the Democrats and Republicans can continue to grandstand in Washington, and tell us how hard they are working to solve the wrongs in the world, but until they have put Americans back to work, they have failed at the job we elected them to. |
