We Have To Save Those People Over There

I know when numbers get this big they don't mean much, but here is how far in debt we are: $14,215,911,710,340.52 That would be last night. By the time you read this, that debt will have gone up by over 1,000 million dollars. In fact The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $4.08 billion per day since September 28, 2007!

Last week President Obama got us into another war. Since then he has spent over $600,000,000.00 on it. At the same time he is spending even more than that with his wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

The President went on television and told the nation we just had to start this new war in Libya to save lives. Oh, to save lives, is it?

Here are some facts about what is going on right here is America:
         Over 40,000 Americans are killed in traffic accidents every year;
         Another 15,000+ Americans are murdered every year here at home;
         We have over 2,297,000 Americans in prison or jail;
                  (We have the most people incarcerated in the whole world.)
         On top of that we have 13,700,000 Americans out of work; and
         Over 1,000,000 Americans had their homes foreclosed on last year.
                  (With more expected this year.)

So, we are way in debt, we have millions of our citizens in prison, millions more looking for work, tens of thousands being killed on our highways, and thousands more being murdered, while millions are being thrown out of their homes, and President Obama says the reason we are in Libya, on the other side of the world, is to save lives.

Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we just stay home and work on saving lives over here.

Post Script:

Listening to NPR today, Ted Koppel told of all the countries in the world with dictators killing their people, and how the United States, NATO and the UN ignore them. The difference between those countries and Libya? Libya has oil.
